Bit of sleep in today after two long and tiring days. We made
up for lost time though with a bus ride with the local fans and a day at
Candlestick Park watching the San Francisco ‘49ers play the St. Louis Rams. The
pre-game entertainment was great with marching bands and cheerleaders and the
honouring of ‘49ers legend, Jerry Rice. Some of the boys managed to get up
close and personal with the cheerleaders, sneaking down beside the field for a
rare photo opportunity.
The game started with the ‘49ers in control but unable to
score a touchdown and settling for a couple of field goals. The longer the game
went, the greater their grip on the game with the ‘49ers running out
comfortable winners, scoring three touchdowns and the Rams scoring a
consolation td in the final minute. We were thoroughly entertained by a group
of people behind us who were having a great day out. We were very lucky to be
able to come here as this is the last season that the ‘49ers will play at
Candlestick Park before moving to a new stadium about 40 minutes away in Santa
Clara.
After a bit of a wait for the bus, we made our way back to
downtown SF for a little shopping before a tram ride (yes, that’s right….they
have trams here. Even a Melbourne tram) around to Pier 39 for dinner at Wipeout
Bar and Restaurant. Bit of shopping at the NFL store before walking back to our
hotel in preparation for our visit to our sister school, Athenian School
tomorrow.
It's not all hard work on tour for the staff.
Farewell season at Candlestick Park.
